International Journal on Improving
Reading
Skills with Children’s Book through Metacognitive Strategy : The Turkish
Context
Last week i discussed the
method, this time it’s still about the method but next part.
- Works of
Children’s Literature
In this study, students
in the experimental group were given children’s books of literary quality
appropriate for their developmental levels. here children are given books In addition, these books were chosen both by
children’s literature criteria and by the remarks of the developmental
psychologist. Furthermore, the fact that these books were given national and
global awards proves their qualifications. However, students in the control
group were given five books.
- Data Analysis
All statistical
analyses were performed with Statistical Package for Social Sciences (SPSS). A
series of independent sample t-test was used to determine whether there was a
significant difference between the results of the pre-test and the post-test of
the experimental and the control group. In addition, the analysis of covariance
(one way Ancova) was used to determine the effect of metacognitive strategy in
improving reading comprehension skills by analyzing whether there was a
significant difference between the post-intervention scores of the experimental
and the control group controling for their pre-test scores (Punch, 2005).
